Auch... It hurts!
.
This is the second review of the concert that I found. Edward Seckerson is bitter, but tells the truth. He only gives 2 stars for this concert. Reading this article I realized that the other one was softer. These seem to be the words of a person who enjoys Angela's music but feels diappointed after this concert. Sorry, but when you have paid up to £75 to see Gheorghiu in concert you don't expect her to be sharing the evening with a decidedly average singing partner. A duet or two, perhaps, but not a two-way split of everything on offer. One might applaud her generosity in showcasing a fellow Romanian but, frankly, not at our expense. You can read the entire article HERE.

Neil Fisher in The Times has something to say too about this concert at Royal Festival Hall and gives it 3 stars. At this point many people tend to compare any tenor that Angela sings with with Roberto. This will pass in time. Hard not to miss Alagna, particularly during Mascagni’s Cherry Duet, once a set piece for “Bob and Ange”, or when Manea stiffly sang an aria from Gounod’s Faust — one of Alagna’s best roles. The article is HERE.

All three reviewers have ideas in common: they would have liked to listen to more Angela and less Marius or orchestra, they would have appreciated better chosen outfits (is Vegas her next stop?... says Mr Fisher) and they all criticised the young tenor. I give him credit. I saw him twice at the opera in the past month. La Boheme and Macbeth. He is good but for sure there's plenty of place for better. And if he wants to join that "high society" of opera and have good reviews he must practice, practice, practice. He signed with IMG Arsits now so I wish him good luck.

This review on Times Online says that there were 4 encores:
*O mio babbino caro
*Non ti scordar di me
*Granada
*Brindisi
