Kennedy Awards Gala took place last evening in Washington DC, at the Kennedy Center. The 5 Honorees, Robert De Niro, Bruce Springsteen, Mel Brooks, Dave Brubeck and Grace Bumbry (big, nice picture of all of them HERE) were paid tribute by friends and colleagues. The president Obama and his wife attended the Gala after hosting a reception at the White House earlier in the evening.

Angela Gheorghiu paid tribute to Grace Bumbry. She "made her Kennedy Center debut with breathtaking performance of the aria "Vissi d'arte" from Puccini's "Tosca." It's the same song Miss Bumbry herself sang in tribute to Marian Anderson during the very first Kennedy Center Honors 32 years ago" (Washington Post)
